The time has come and you are officially in preparation mode to sell your home. Before taking your pictures, run through the to-do list and take a look at your current landscape. Landscaping can be as expensive or budget-friendly as you want. Here are some tips to boost your curb appeal and sell your home:
Start with the basics:
- Mow the lawn
- Trim your hedges
- Rake and pull weeds
- Spruce up the garden
Focus on adding new features:
- Add plants or trees
- Build a simple walkway to the front door
- A bench in the backyard (this can spark “I can imagine drinking coffee here every morning” feelings which lead to sales)
Cleaning and Upgrading
- Powerwash dirty surfaces
- Replace or paint the siding
- Check if windows or doors need to be replaced
- Touch up mulch
- Take care of irrigation issues
Ideally, you would want to start prepping your yard about a month before you plan to list your home. That should give you enough time to get everything spruced and not make it look like you waited until the last minute to do yard prep.
